Massage therapy has a wide variety of applications and benefits, physically, psychologically, emotionally, energetically and spiritually.  Every human culture in documented history has had a tradition of massage, which speaks to it's value as a healing modality.

Extensive research has shown the numerous benefits that massage therapy provides.  Besides specific case studies documenting effective treatment of acute and chronic pain and dysfunction, the effects on heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, stress hormone levels, cell metabolism and other necessary functions in the body can be scientifically verified following massage.  Studies have also shown marked improvement in emotional well-being and physical and mental performance.

Whether you are looking for relaxation and stress reduction, or specific treatment of injury, pain, postural misalignment, or mechanical dysfunction, massage has many effective avenues of assessment and treatment that a skilled professional can apply.

The right therapist can help you address your issues with a goal-oriented approach tailored to your specific needs.  You are paying for a service, and we are paid to serve you, and working from this perspective is the best approach to helping you to get where you want to be.

Besides education, training and experience in anatomy, physiology, technique and so forth, and a sensitive and nurturing touch, listening is one of the most important skills that a bodyworker utilizes to help you on your path to healing- listening clearly to you speak, and acknowledging your experiences of your body and what change you specifically want to see...  soliciting and listening to your feedback and directions, and encouraging you to ask for exactly what you want out of your treatment...  listening with our hands to your body, your tension, motion and restriction, and following your guidance to provide relief and improvement in the most comfortable and least invasive way possible...

I also believe that, as a servant and facilitator in maximizing your improvement, it is our duty to help educate you on what you can do to be proactive in your own healing.  We can recommend stretches, exercises, relaxation and rehabilitation techniques you can perform to be self-empowered and access all of the resources at your disposal.  This includes informing you of other potentially beneficial modalities and treatments, even beyond the scope of our own practice, and how you can find  out about them.

In the end, we are only aiding you in your own endeavors.  Whether you pay others for their services, or work on your own, you, the client, must participate fully to achieve your full potential.  You know your body and mind better than anyone else.  You decide what is working, what feels right, and what you need to do to find the best path to healing.  As such, you decide who the right therapist is for you.  Even a very good practitioner may not be the most compatible to your needs.  If I can be instrumental in helping you heal, I am committed to doing everything in my power to serve you, and grateful for the opportunity to do so.  Thanks and blessings,
